Makerspace
Have you visited the library’s makerspace? We have art and craft supplies, games, puzzles, LEGOs, gaming computers, a 3D printer and more!
Passports
The Rutherford County Library System’s main location at 145 College Ave, Suite D, in Rutherfordton is a Passport Acceptance Facility. Applications are accepted by appointment only. Please call 828-287-6430 to schedule a time.
Public Computers
All three library locations have a number of computers available for public use. The computers have Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and internet access.
Get A Library Card
Some library services require the use of a library card. Getting a library card is quick, easy, and FREE for Rutherford County residents. See a staff member for more information.
Printing/Photocopies
Printing from the public computers and photocopying services are available at each library location. The cost is $0.25 per page.
Faxing/Scanning
Faxing services are available at each library location. The cost is $2 for the first page and $1 for each additional page.
Document scanning is also available at each library location and there is no cost.
Kits
Each library location has a number of kits available for checkout. These include Story Kits for young children, STEM kits for older children, Cake Pans, Fitness Kits, 3D Pens, and more!
Clubs, Groups, & Activities
The Rutherford County Library System hosts a number of clubs, groups, and ongoing activities at all three locations.

Libby by OverDrive
Libby by OverDrive provides access to thousands of ebooks and audiobooks available from the North Carolina Digital Library and the NC Kids Digital Library.
Kanopy
The Kanopy app provides access to movies, television shows, and documentaries, as well as a large library of children’s programming.
Other Services
Little Libraries
The library is proud to sponsor several “little libraries” around the county. These operate as free book exchanges…take a book, leave a book. The library will also periodically stock the libraries with additional titles suitable for children, teens, and adults. Special thanks to Rutherford County Woodworkers Association and Rutherford County Visual Arts Guild for their work in building and painting the little libraries.
